Free Agent Reliever options: Steve Cishek

Relief pitcher Steve Cishek would be an interesting option for the New York Mets, mainly because of his knowledge and feel for the National League East division. Cishek previously spent six seasons with the Florida and Miami Marlins from 2010 to 2016 and appeared in 284 games while owning a 2.86 ERA in 289.2 innings pitched.

The 33-year old righty spent his last two seasons with the Chicago Cubs and pitched exceptionally well throughout his tenure with the team. In 2018, Cishek pitched to a 2.18 ERA and struck out 78 batters in 70.1 innings.

In 2019, the Falmouth, Massachusetts native had a 2.95 ERA in 64.0 innings pitched. The odd-throwing sidearmer also saved seven games and struck out 57 in 70 games.

Throughout his 10-year career, Cishek owns a 2.69 ERA and has struck out 584 batters in 556.0 innings pitched as well as 132 saves.

It’s really hard to say that Cishek wouldn’t look good in almost all bullpens.
