After injuring his shoulder on a diving play at third, Davis saw live pitching for the first time last week and hit a home run off of two-time Cy Young award winner Jacob deGrom.
While Davis is currently slated to be the Mets starting left fielder, his versatility has had the Mets brass give the 26-year old some reps at third base, as well. When asked about his recovery, Davis replied with “We’re getting closer and closer… I’m feeling good, I’m feeling ready to go.”
He added “I was running around out there, legs feel good, so pretty confident right now. Just taking it day by day.”
As of now, there is no set return for Davis and that’s understandable, especially while we’re in the early days of Spring Training. However, he’ll eventually need to get real reps against the competition as opposed to simulated at-bats.
