I recently saw through the MetsRealm Instagram page that Tim Britton of the Athletic is reporting that the Mets are currently considering moving shortstop Amed Rosario to centerfield.
While I considered this move in the past, I believe if the team wants Andres Gimenez as their starting shortstop now, they should just part ways with Rosario at this point. Not necessarily because of Rosario, but because of the team’s need for a starting pitcher.
Gimenez is without a doubt the superior defensive shortstop however time will tell if the youngster can keep up with Rosario in the batters box. But with the DH potentially coming to the National League on a permanent basis, the Mets can easily slot Gimenez as their number nine hitter.
With Steve Cohen on the cusp of taking over 95% of team ownership and control, the Mets might also be considering spending top dollar on the free agent market in regards to both a centerfielder and starting pitcher.
Either way, it’s going to be an extremely exciting off season for those fans that are glued to their screens, waiting on rumors, potential transactions, and roster upgrades.
