MetsJunkies Recap: Mets Beat Up the Braves

In a feel good game for the Mets, they beat up the division rival Braves 13-2. The Mets hit a season high 5 homeruns in the victory.

James McCann had a huge day going 4 for 5 with a homerun, double, scoring 3 runs and driving in two. He opened the score with a solo homerun in the first.

The Mets added one in the third after a Dom Smith RBI hit. Villar homered in the 5th and Nido RBI force out added one more.

The Mets showed their muscles in the sixth, scoring 7 runs. Drury homered after Maybin collected his first Mets hit, McCann and Nido collected RBI hits and McKinney hit his first Mets homerun to make it 7 runs in the inning. Lindor added 2 more runs in the seventh with his fourth homer of the year.

Taijuan Walker got the win in his return to action going 5 dominant innings. He allowed 0 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 8. Castro, Reid-Foley and Barnes closed out the game.

Jacob deGrom and the Mets will try to make it 5 in a row today, looking to sweep the Braves. The Mets now have a 3.5 game lead in the East.
