MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Good Pitching, Bad Offense

Syracuse Mets (14-37)

The Syracuse Mets lost to the Red Wings 4-1. Drew Jackson drove in the only run with a solo homerun. Villar went 0 for 3 in his rehab game and JD Davis 1 for 3.

Alex Sanabia made his debut after coming over from Indy Ball. He was solid allowing just 1 run over 4.1 innings. Windle and Bostick were good in relief but Roney allowed 3 in the ninth for the loss.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (18-33)

The Rumble Ponies lost to the Flying Squirrels 2-1. Nick Meyer collected 2 of the Ponies 3 total hits. Luis Carpio had the other, a RBI Single.

Oscar De la Cruz pitched well, going 5.1 innings of one run ball. He struck out 6 in that span.

Brooklyn Cyclones (18-33)

The Cyclones lost to the IronBirds after they couldn’t hold a 3-0 lead in the bottom if the ninth. 4 unearned runs came home after Joe Genord error. It was followed by a sac fly (which should have been the third out) and two hits to score four runs.

The Cyclones scored three in the seventh to open the score. LT Struble drove in two with a base hit.

Justin Lasko was terrific, going 6 shutout innings. Lasko allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks, with 5 strikeouts.

St. Lucie Mets (28-25)

The St. Lucie Mets lost 2-1 to the Threshers, besides a strong outing from JT Ginn.

Ginn allowed just two runs on 4 hits in 5.2 innings of work. The top pitching prospect struck out 4. His ERA now stands at 3.04.

Nolan Clenney was terrific in his season debut, as he went 2.1 perfect innings with 4 strikeouts.

However the offense couldn’t do enough getting just one run across. Cole Kleszcz drove in the only run with a bases loaded walk, scoring Alex Ramirez.
