MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Alvarez Homers, Cyclones Win After Senger Walk Off Homer

Syracuse Mets (4-14)

The Syracuse Mets lost to the IronPigs 7-2 on Sunday. Nick Meyer and Sebastián Elizalde both collected 2 hits from the top of the order.

Kilome got the start allowing 6 runs (4 earned) over 5.2 innings of work. Stephen Nogosek kept his good season going with a scoreless ninth.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (2-15)

Another close game that didn’t fall to the Rumble Ponies as the SeaWolves beat the Ponies 5-4. Carlos Cortes and Manny Rodriguez homered in the loss. Mark Vientos went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts.

Adam Oller allowed 5 runs over 6 innings of work in his start. Yeizo Campos pitched 2 scoreless to keep the Rumble Ponies in the game.

Brooklyn Cyclones (7-10)

The Cyclones won a thriller in 12 innings against the Renegades 6-5. Hayden Senger hit a walk off three run homerun in the bottom of the 12th.

Zach Ashford homered in the sixth to score two runs. One of the two hits for Ashford. Mauricio hit a big RBI single to tie the game in the 11th, going 1 for 5 on the day.

Jose Butto got the start and he was tremendous over 5 innings of one run ball. Butto allowed just 5 hits without walking anybody, while striking out 5. The rightly lowered his ERA to 3.93.

Hejka allowed 3 unearned runs (2 ghost runners), combined in the 11th and 12th, but got the win after the Cyclones rallied.

St. Lucie Mets (13-5)

The St. Lucie Mets beat the Palm Beach Cardinals behind a big three run homerun from Francisco Alvarez. He went 2 for 6 as the DH and is now hitting .417/.567/.648 with 15 walks and 7 strikeouts on the season.

Other good days came from Shervyen Newton, Warren Saunders, Cole Kleszcz and Tanner Murphy.

Austin Faith pitched well over 4 scoreless innings. He allowed just 2 hits, 1 walk, striking out 7 in the win. He lowered his ERA to 2.19.

MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Baty Keeps Hitting.

Syracuse Mets (3-13)

The Syracuse Mets lost against the IronPigs 8-4 on Friday. J.D. Davis went 0 for 3 with a walk in his latest rehab game. J.D. played first and made an error. Overall the Syracuse Mets collected just 5 hits in the loss.

Jesus Reyes got the start and went 5 innings of 4 run ball (3ER). Lugo went an inning allowing an unearned run, walking 2 and striking out 1. Aroldis Vizcaino pitched 2 scoreless, striking out 4.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-14)

Another day, another Rumble Ponies loss. The Ponies lost 5-4 on another walk off loss. Riley Gilliam allowed the winning run to score in the ninth.

The Rumble Ponies got homeruns from David Rodriguez, Carlos Cortes and Walter Lagrange. Luke Rennie got the start and allowed a run in 5.2 innings. The bullpen couldn’t held the lead.

Brooklyn Cyclones (6-9)

The Cyclones beat the Renegades 4-1 behind another strong outing from Josh Walker who went 6 innings of one run ball. Eric Orze got the save with 2 perfect innings, striking out 3.

Brett Baty kept his great start going with another 2 for 4 day. The former first round pick is hitting .396 with a .983 OPS. He drove in two of the Cyclones 4 runs.

St. Lucie Mets (12-4)

While the other minor league teams struggle, the St. Lucie Mets keep winning. Even without a major Leaguer on rehab on the hill, the St. Lucie Mets beat the Palm Beach Cardinals 8-4.

Joander Suarez got the start allowing 3 runs over 4 innings of work. Sammy and Willy Taveras combined to pitch 3 scoreless innings.

Francisco Alvarez went 0 for 3, but walked 3 times, to keep his OBP up. Saunders and Kleszcz had two hits in the win.

MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Poor Palm Beach Cardinals

Syracuse Mets (3-12)

The Syracuse Mets snapped their losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the IronPigs. Jerad Eickhoff got the start and pitched 6 strong innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Eickhoff walked 3 and struck out 7, lowering his ERA to 6.00. Stephen Nogosek got the clutch save, pitching 3 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 5. Nogosek lowered his ERA to 1.93 for the year.

David Thompson hit his third homer of the season, a two run shot in the third. Catcher Nick Meyer drove in two.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-13)

The Binghamton struggles continue after a 11-1 loss to the SeaWolves. Mark Vientos is starting to get going, having another 2 hit game. Vientos is 5 for his last 11.

The pitching struggled, as the Rumble Ponies got the best outing of the day from Cole Gordon. Gordon allowed a solo homerun in 2.2 innings, striking out 3. The 32nd rounder pick from the 2019 draft has struck out 10 over 7.2 innings with a 0.82WHIP.

Brooklyn Cyclones (5-9)

The Brooklyn Cyclones couldn’t follow up their offensive production from Wednesday with another offensive explosion. The Cyclones were silenced by the Renegades in a 6-1 loss.

Ronny Mauricio extended his hitting streak to 12 games, but he also struck out three times. Mauricio has cooled down a bit, going 3 for 13 with 7 strikeouts in his last 3 games.

Jaison Vilera pitched well over 5 innings of 2 run ball, but Colby Morris struggled in his Cyclones debut, allowing 4 runs.

St. Lucie Mets (11-4)

The poor Palm Beach Cardinals. After facing Lugo and Syndergaard, they had the pleasure of facing the games best in a rehab start. deGrom went 3 hitless innings, with 8 strikeouts and no walks. Kudos to the 2 guys who got the ball in play. The Cardinals weren’t able to take advantage of the other pitchers they faced, getting shutout by the St. Lucie Mets 7-0.

After deGrom, the St. Lucie Mets got 5 scoreless innings from Justin Lasko, who lowered his ERA to 2.40. He struck out 6, allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks.

Zach Ashford collected three hits and drove in 2. He is hitting .354 with a 904 OPS. Top prospect Francisco Alvarez had another 2 hit game, going 2 for 4 with a RBI. He is hitting .459 with a 1229 OPS.

MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Offensive Explosion in Brooklyn Behind Baty Strong Day

Syracuse Mets (2-12)

The depleted Syracuse Mets lost their 6th in a row on Wednesday in a blow out 16-1 loss to the IronPigs. J.D. Davis collected a hit in his rehab stint. Drew Ferguson collected 3 hits.

Yamamoto pitched two innings, before leaving the game. Most likely because the Mets will bring him up to pitch this weekend. The bullpen struggled with Oscar de la Cruz allowing the most runs (6 earned).

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-12)

The Rumble Ponies lost to the SeaWolves 5-4, besides outhitting the opposition 11-7.

Shortstop Yoel Romero collected 3 hits and an RBI. He is hitting .448 with a 1129 OPS. Mark Vientos collected 2 hits and a RBI, improving his average to .178 with a .591 OPS.

Tony Dibrell pitched 4 strong innings, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 5. Andrew Mitchell allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth for the blown save/loss.

Brooklyn Cyclones (5-8)

The Brooklyn Cyclones blow out the Renegades 14-0. Brett Baty was the big man going 4 for 5 with a double and 4 runs batted in. Baty is hitting. 425 with a 1070 OPS.

Ronny Mauricio extended his hitting streak to 11 with a double in 5 at bats. Joe Genord and Jake Mangum had big games as well.

Oscar Rojas pitched well for four scoreless innings. Bryce Montes de Oca kept his scoreless inning streak going with a scoreless ninth.

St. Lucie Mets (10-4)

The St. Lucie Mets stayed hot with help from reinforcements on rehab assignments. Noah Syndergaard got the start and was great for 4 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, no walks and striking out 5.

After Noah the St. Lucie Mets struggled to held a big lead, but just did enough, winning 11-8. Zack Ashford and Matt Dyer collected two hits, Warren Saunders drove in three and Jaylen Palmer scored 3 runs.

Syracuse Mets (2-11)

With lot of the Mets depth in the majors the Syracuse Mets keep struggling after an 7-3 loss. Brandon Drury homered in the loss. J.D. Davis went 0 for 2 in his rehab stint.

Syracuse got multihit games from Mason Williams, Brandon Drury and Drew Ferguson. Franklyn Kilome started and allowed 2 runs over 5 innings of work. McWilliams got the loss after he struggled with control. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) and 4 walks in an inning.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-11)

After the Rumble Ponies got the first win, they lost a 3-2 affair against the SeaWolves.

Struggling prospect Mark Vientos went 1 for 3 with a RBI. One of the 4 hits the Ponies collected.

Adam Oller pitched well allowing just one run over six innings. Thomas McIlraith got the loss allowing 2 runs (1 earned) over 2 innings of work.

Brooklyn Cyclones (4-8)

The Brooklyn Cyclones lost 4-3 against the Renegades on Tuesday. Ronny Mauricio extended his hitting streak to 10 games to open this season. Brett Baty collected two hits and Joe Genord homered for the fourth time this season (2 run shot).

The Cyclones got good pitching as Jose Butto pitched his best game of the year going 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, walking just one.

St. Lucie Mets (9-4)

The only Mets minor league team that is performing are the St. Lucie Mets. They shutout the Palm Beach Cardinals 4-0.

Shervyen Newton and Francisco Alvarez both collected two hits in the win.

Seth Lugo made his return to action with a scoreless first. It took Lugo just 4 pitches and he reached 93 on the gun. Franklyn Parra (2IP), Hunter Parsons (3IP), Liam McCall, Willy Taveras and Reyson Santos (IP) combined to hold the shut out.

MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Binghamton Gets Their Long Awaited Victory.

Syracuse Mets (2-10)

Syracuse struggles continues after a 7-4 loss to the Worcester Red Sox. Jesus Reyes allowed 5 runs in the second, highlighted by a Enrique (Kikè) Hernandez Grand Slam in his rehab assignment. Oscar de la Cruz rebounded with 1.1 scoreless innings.

Big man on the offensive side was Wilfredo Tovar, who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-10)

The Rumble Ponies are finally in the win column after a 7-3 victory over the Curve.

Tyler Megill kept his impressive start of the year going with 6 innings of one run ball. Megill struck out 5 and walked none. His ERA now stands at 1.13 after three starts.

Will Toffey and Yoel Romero collected two hits, Jeremy Vasquez homered and Walter Lagrange drove in two to provide most of the offense.

Brooklyn Cyclones (4-7)

The Cyclones came back with 3 in the ninth after a Mauricio game tying, 2 out, three run homerun in the top of the ninth, but couldn’t hold the tie in the bottom of the inning, to lose in walk off fashion 10-9.

Overall Mauricio collected three hits and is now hitting .341 with a 1118 OPS. Duplantis scored 4 runs after collecting 4 hits. Baty drove in two and Ritter hit a 3 run homerun in the loss.

Josh Walker allowed 4 runs in 5 innings of work. Otanez and Orze struggled in their outings.

St. Lucie Mets (8-4)

The St. Lucie Mets beat the Tortugas 2-1 behind a strong start from Cam Opp. Opp went 5 scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 0.79. Luis Moreno got the four inning save, allowing just a run, striking out 6.

Tanner Murphy hit a 2 run homerun, accounting for the only runs. Alvarez and Newton went hitless.

MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Rumble Ponies Drop to 0-10 After Extra Inning Loss.

Syracuse Mets (2-9)

The Syracuse Mets lost 10-5 against the Worcester Red Sox, after a 4 run first by Syracuse.

Deivy Grullón homered and drove in 2 I the loss. Other RBIs came from Brandon Drury and Wilfredo Tovar. Mason Williams collected 2 hits.

Jared Eickhoff couldn’t hold the early lead the offense gave him as he allowed 5 runs over 5 innings of work. Daniel Zamora got the loss after allowing 3 runs in 1.1 inning, mainly because of 4 walks. Sam McWilliams struck out three in a scoreless frame.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (0-10)

The Rumble Ponies just can’t catch a win after another extra inning loss. The Curve scored two after a RBI Double, scored the free runner and a passed ball scored the difference maker.

Sebastian Elizalde and Will Toffey drove in two runs. Elizalde had a chance to be the hero in the bottom of the tenth, but he grounded in a double play with two on in the tenth. Vientos struck out after the double play to end the game.

The Rumble Ponies got a terrific outing from Marcel Renteria, who struck out 5 over 3 perfect frames. Renteria is unscored upon in 7 innings, striking out 10. Gilliam allowed 2 unearned runs to score in the tenth for the loss.

Brooklyn Cyclones (4-6)

The Cyclones lost to the Drive 8-4 on Saturday, despite Jake Mangum second homerun of the year. Top prospect Mauricio went 1 for 3 in the loss.

Jaison Vilera allowed 4 runs over 4 innings, with 7 strikeouts and Bryce Montes de Oca kept impressing with 1.2 hitless innings with 3 strikeouts. De Oca reportedly hit 101 on the gun in his outing.

St. Lucie Mets (7-4)

The St. Lucie Mets completed the organization getting swept with a 5-1 loss to the Tortugas. The St. Lucie Mets collected just three hits, one from Francisco Alvarez, who returned to the lineup.

Joander Suarez allowed 3 runs (2 earned) over four innings.

MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Rumble Ponies Still Waiting for First Win

Syracuse Mets (2-7)

After snapping their losing streak on Wednesday, the Syracuse Mets started another one on Thursday after a 7-4 loss to the Worcester Red Sox.

Brandon Nimmo went 0-3 in a rehab game for the Syracuse Mets, as he looks to come of the IL soon. Hager (solo) and Thompson (3 run) both homered to account for all Syracuse runs.

Mets lefty Szapucki got the start allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits over 5.1 innings. Main plus in his outing was limiting his walks to just one. Trey Cobb pitched 1.1 scoreless ball.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (0-8)

The Rumble Ponies struggles continues as they are still waiting to get into the win column. The Curve beat the Rumble Ponies in a 9-6 final score after 10 innings. The Ponies had a 6-2 lead going into the eight.

Carlos Cortes collected 3 hits and Sebastián Elizalde drove in 2 in the loss.

Adam Oller got the start going 5 innings of 2 run ball (1 earned). Andrew Mitchell was able to hold the lead with 2 scoreless but Yeizo Campos and Jarred Robinson struggled in the later innings.

The Cyclones lost to the Drive with a 8-2 loss on Thursday. Jake Mangum hit his first pro homer that accounted for all Cyclones runs.

Oscar Rojas allowed 4 runs (3 earned) over 3.2 innings in his start. 2020 5th round pick Eric Orze allowed a run in 1.1 innings, but struck out 3.

St. Lucie Mets (5-3)

The St. Lucie Mets lost game one of the Doubleheader against the Tortugas 15-2. Big news in the first game were injuries. Francisco Alvarez left the game after a collision at the plate, but reports are that he was fine after the game. Pete Crow-Armstrong was placed on the 7 game IL, with a right shoulder injury.

In the game the St. Lucie Mets collected just three hits in the blow out loss. Mets 11th round pick in 2018 Franklyn Parra has a dreadful day allowing 10 runs in 2.1 innings allowing 7 hits and 6 walks.

St. Lucie Mets (6-3)

In the second game of the Doubleheader, the St. Lucie pitching rebounded as they shut out the Tortugas 2-0. 19 year old Junior Santos was great, going 4 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. The youngster has a 1.29 ERA on the season.

Austin Faith followed with 3 perfect innings, striking out 4 in front of Reyson Santos collecting his 3rd save with a perfect frame of his own. Reyson Santos is unscored upon over his first 4 innings.

The St. Lucie Mets offense was silenced again but got two runs in the eight on a throwing error by the opposing catcher.

MiLB Recap: Pete Crow-Armstrong Stays Hot

Syracuse Mets (1-5)

The Syracuse Mets lost their 5th in a row to the RailRiders in an offensive barrage 15-10.

The Syracuse Mets got great offensive days from Jake Hager and Johneswhy Fargas. Hager went 4 for 4 with a RBI and a walk. The Syracuse Mets shortstop is hitting .375 with a 1048 OPS. Fargas went 3 for 5 with a 3 run homerun, as he is hitting .375 as well with a 1125 OPS in the young season.

The pitching had a hard time with Eickhoff getting the start. Eickhoff went 4 innings allowing 6 runs (5 earned). The bullpen didn’t fair better as Vizcaíno, Hildenberger, Nogosek and McWilliams allowing a combined 9 runs (8 earned) over 4.2 innings. Catcher Bruce Maxwell got the final out.

St. Lucie Mets (4-2)

The St. Lucie Mets lost to the Hammerheads 7-5. Top prospects Pete Crow-Armstrong and Francisco Alvarez stayed hot in the loss.

PCA went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs and is now hitting. 450 with a 1143 OPS. PCA also gunned down a runner at the plate in the loss. Alvarez showed his mature approach going 1 for 2 with a double, RBI and three walks. He is hitting .529 with a crazy 1549 OPS.

Joander Suarez allowed 4 runs in 4 innings as his era stands at 6.23.
