MetsJunkies Game Recap: Davis/Lindor Shine in Mets Victory

The Mets beat the Marlins 5-3 in a Tuesday afternoon game. Davis shined with the bat and in the field, as he made a sparkling stop to get a force out (should have been a DP, but Pete came of the bag).

Pitching Lines:

Marcus Stroman: 5IP, 9H, 3ER, 0BB, 3K. 3.44 ERA

Jacob Barnes: IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K. 5.40 ERA

Aaron Loup: IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 3K. 3.18 ERA

Trevor May: IP, 0H, 0R, BB, K. 3.00 ERA

Tommy Hunter: IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K. 3.60 ERA

Stroman wasn’t at his best but still got the job done. His slider has been practically good this spring with a 42% Whiff rate. 6.8% higher than in 2019.

Jacob Barnes made a big statement to make the pen as he came in with 2 on and no out, to keep the Marlins off the board.

Aaron Loup struck out the side and now has 9 strikeouts in 5.2 innings this spring.

Offensive Stars of the game:

Francisco Lindor: 3-4, HR, 2B, 2RBI, 2R

J.D. Davis: 1-3, HR, R, RBI, BB, K

Kevin Pillar: 2-4, 3B, R

Francisco Lindor is red hot. Over his last 6 games he is hitting .476 with 4 homeruns and 11 RBI’s, good for a .1.617 OPS.

J.D. Davis collected his first homerun of the spring. Good to see JD, drive a ball as his launch angle dropped significantly in 2020.

Today the Mets will face the Carlos Martinez and the Cardinals jet again. The Mets will give Taijuan Walker the start. You can watch it on MLB.tv as the Cardinals will broadcast the game. Game time 1.05EST
