Another managerial candidate in the mix?

It’s being reported by New York Mets beat writer Andy Martino of SNY that Syracuse Mets manager Tony DeFrancesco has also been interviewed for the vacant managerial position. DeFrancesco took over the AAA managerial position when Luis Rojas was promoted to bench coach prior to the 2019 season.

In 2014 while managing the Houston Astros AAA affiliate, DeFrancesco was diagnosed with cancer and had to miss the beginning of the year. Luckily, the Bronx native has seemed to be in the clear since.

DeFrancesco is an interesting name to join the bunch, especially since contemporary bench coach Luis Rojas has seemed to slip through the cracks while previously managing both AA and AAA affiliates.
